Sony Ericsson Flashing FAQ

I saw that many people asks what is Main, FS, etc. So I made this FAQ to clear everything…

Unlock - use with SIM of any operator

Debrand - remove operator's stuff 1) from phone, use XS++

Main Firmware - the Operating System of the phone, like Windows/Linux/Mac OS 2)

FS - File System, contains drivers (camera, acoustics, …), menus, pictures, sounds

CDA/CustPack - Configuration files for the phone, goes in FS after flashing it, contains 3) list of allowed languages, phone name, branding info (operator stuff) - it contains list of locked operator's files if any. Phone can't work without CDA, but there's patch for some phones at mobilefree.ru which allows it.

CID - Certificate Identification. The phone's EROM CID must match the firmware CID. 4)

Flash menu - phone's menu in flash file (*.swf), mainly Walkman phones support it, and C series too. There are some exceptions, like K770. 5)

Get Main from here - http://sek750.extra.hu/ , http://www.4shared.com/

and FS from here - http://www.4shared.com/ , http://www.esnips.com - for free,

or from here - http://topsony.com/ , http://www.seusers.com topse.ru - pay for it, at TopSony 2€.

CDA/CustPack - 4shared.com 6)

1) like their startup and shutdown images and sounds, pictures, ringtones
2) it's stored staticly, it never changes by itself, you know PC operating systems change by installing libraries and viruses… :D
4) Example: Phone's CID is 52. If you're planning to flash Main, you must download firmware which matches the phone's model and the CID must be 52. Name ex.: “K530_R8BB001_MAIN_GENERIC_NC_RED52” This means it's the K530 Main, version R8BB001, Generic, NC means Nicole what is the “Code Name” of the model, and RED52 means red CID 52.
5) The operator may disable this feature, you may debrand to enable it, if the phone itself supports it.
6) any DB2020 CDA works on any DB2020 phone, the region must be the same, like APAC, CENT_EUROPE, EMEA1…
