But this dosn't means that all the other person who know flashing can skip this
It contain very imp. Information regarding flashing and the thing about your phone that you never knew and should know before Stepping to Next level of flashing or modeing

I wanna flash/mod my phone NOW! How to do that ???

Well, let me start of thing with the few simple and yet most important answer one should know...
All SE phones are divided into groups... Since this is a Newbie guide, I'll be defining terms in most easy and in understandable words...
You'll need to find out your phone's Platform,GDFS, CID, EROM, Colour and Firmware version... before you move to moding your cell and start experimenting on your phone

GDFS :-
GDFS is the phones “stash”, where all settings and calibration data is stored (this also goes for the firmwares IMEI-resource as well as the SIM locks). Similar to other brands use of NVRAM (Non-Volatile Random Access Memory).
Your phone’s GDFS is unique to your phone, this means when you think your phone's GDFS is gone, don't try to flash someone else's GDFS, it will almost certainly kill the phone.

CID :-
CID is basically the protection system used on your phone, it determines the loaders used to break into it
Current CIDs in use by SE are 29/36/37/49/50/51/52/53
The most common CIDs are 36,49,51,52,53
CID53 is one of the most newest and can be modded by using jdflasher.

EROM :-
EROM stand for Erasable Read Only Memory.This is the base part of the software which isn't flashed in normal update operations. It controls the flashing interface, the boot loader, etc

EROM Colour: EROM have different type's of color & they defines what kind of phone you are using
RED Phones are typical retail phones.
BROWN phones are phones used in development and testing.
BLUE phones are the units that were assembled at the factory but never programmed with firmware/IMEI/GDFS & ETC

DB PLATFORM :-
PLATFORM is the hardware 'chipset' used in the mobile you own. DB2000, DB2010, DB2012, DB2020, DB3150 are the most common platforms, and DB2010 to DB2020 are supported by All flashing software. DB3150 can be moded but not in free many software and tools are under test to mod it in free. Now a day's all new high end phone are coming under DB3150 platform

FIRMWARE :-
FIRMWARE is the 'operating system' of your phone, same like the OS of ya PC, it is divided into two parts; MAIN Firmware and FS (File System).
The FS contains the file system that we will need to change or to upload file that what is called moding , and the MAIN is the actual operating environment

Now that you know the most needed information about your cell phone You are ready to know detail regarding flashing Software called XS++, SEtool,JDflasher ect...

At any time you feel you dint understood any part feel free to ask mod's.

There is no GDFS no. CID can be figured out by connecting to XS++ or SeTool 2 Lite.

for cid....when u connect ur device to flashing software...like xs++...in the log...look out for erom...there ull get it
gdfs....mmm...wht kinda info about gdfs huh???
i mean....in gdfs...u only need to take a backup...in case u mess up with ya device!

I want to learn about the basics of flashing. Any suggestions? I have a K810i. What are the various advantages I will have if I flash it with some other versions?

Flash it to a later fw version and it gets more stable.
But we are patching here and using elves... 8-)

flashing...will get u the latest firmware....ull be able to upload...diffrent stuff to ur fs...for modded functioning...and for pimping up more....patching!!!!

what ever u do do not try 2 flash it 2 any phone other than a k810 or k800 as it will probly kill ur fone

He could flash it to w880,k770 etc...but there are many things that will not work...

like keys, functions, joystick mostly stuff u need and i have read on se-nse about ppl trying 2 crossflash 2 w880 and ending up with a pretty brick. maby in the future we will b able 2 do it with patches and/or elves 2 re-map the keys but 4 the moment its not a good idea 2 try :mrgreen:

in case i crossflash it to another firmware that the fon's hardware doesnt support, will it get bricked, and if it des get bricked, we can restore the GDFS na....

The EROM and the GDFS get killed. Both are possible to fix on CID 52 in most cases. But I wouldn't kill it. :laugh:
